Photography

Herron’s photography facilities ensure that your photography practice can actually go where you want to take it. Herron’s state-of-the-art photo facilities include a shooting studio, black-and-white darkrooms, individual color darkrooms, a wet lab for processing film, a computer lab equipped with scanning and inkjet printing amenities, and an exhibition gallery. You can learn techniques that include basic and advanced black-and-white printing, Type-C and Ilfochrome color printing, and non-silver alternative print processes and developing control, as well as mixed media, installation, time-based electronic media, digital imaging, video, use of the view camera, and studio lighting.

As a student in the Photography program, you will have access to professional equipment, including medium format and 4 x 5 view film cameras, digital still and video cameras, continuous and flash lighting equipment, hand-held exposure meters, and heavy-duty tripods.

Particularly in an educational setting, photography facilities have to keep up with the medium or risk interrupting a key moment in your development. Herron is committed to staying ahead of this medium’s technology curve.
