Exploring Art in Italy
Herron Summer Program in Europe
May –- June 2013 [3 1/2 weeks]
Her-H497
This summer, Herron will once again offer a Study Abroad Art History course in Italy.
You will travel with a small group of students to the major cites of Italy - Rome, Florence, and Venice, along with smaller towns for day trips. Your professors will also take you to Tuscan hill towns, archaeological sites, and other locations with important art historical monuments. Our stay in Venice will include the start of the 2012 Venice Biennale, the best known contemporary art exhibition in the world. The program covers the art and architecture of Italy from 509 BCE to 2012 CE.
All classes are taught on-site and instructional time will be spent in museums and at historic sites, architectural monuments, and urban spaces. What better way to deepen your understanding of the essential art traditions of Italy and earn art history credits?
