Feed your inner artist this fall! Herron's community art classes started in 1922 and now is the time to enroll for the Fall 2012 term.
Take a Wednesday night class in drawing or oil painting through Evenings At Herron starting October 3rd through November 14th (plus an additional class on a Thursday night at the Indianapolis Museum of Art).
Herron's community art classes started in 1922, and whether you've been around since then or know a child in grades 2-12 that wants to experience Herron and art, now is the time to enroll.
Saturday School non-credit art classes begin September 29th and continue through November 17th. Classes are open to youths in 2nd through 12 grades and adults. Fall offerings include Ceramics, Elementary Art Sampler, Graffiti & Stencil Art, Funk Art & Fashion and more.
Join Herron at the 2011 Stutz Artists Open House on Saturday, April 30, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., in Studio C-365b where Herron School of Art and Design's Community Learning Programs will offer hands-on art activities for children of all ages. An exhibition of artwork by "Outstanding Saturday School Student" award recipients from spring 2011 will also be on display.
Designed for high school juniors, seniors, and recent graduates who have a serious interest in art, the summer Honors Art program offers an intensive two-week course of study designed to strengthen studio art skills and build a portfolio of artwork.
The spring Saturday School Open House is April 9, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and parking on the surface lot next to Herron during Open House is free, compliments of The Great Frame Up. The Open House will include displays of artwork created during the spring Saturday School session, live music by Sarah Grain (website) and light refreshments. It’s a great opportunity to see what young artists in the community have created and to register early for the fall semester of Saturday School and summer programs. At 3 p.m.
Mark your calendars for an action packed 2008 Year End Celebration on Friday, May 9th, 6-8pm. This year's theme is Explore Herron, so grab a map on the way in and start exploring! Experience the best of the artwork produced by Herron students this school year. In the main galleries, view the Herron Juried Student Exhibition and then tour special exhibits in the Photography and Visual Communications departments. See art displays and take open studio tours throughout the building.
Meet the Saturday School teachers, tour studios, and see what the students have been creating this semester. Enjoy light refreshments and live music by the indy folk group, The No-Ops. You might decide to sign up for a class yourself! The afternoon includes an Awards Ceremony in our Basile Auditorium at 3pm. The event and parking are FREE!
