Damien Center

In collaboration with the Damien Center, an HIV/AIDS prevention and care center, a student team recommended education and prevention programs to use as a primary focus alongside the services already offered to those affected by HIV/AIDS. The Damien/Herron collaboration won IUPUI’s Solutions Center Non-Profit Innovation award in June 2007.

Opportunity

A team of Herron VC juniors was given the job of helping the Damien Center better meet its mission to “empower persons in Central Indiana affected by HIV/AIDS to move forward each day with dignity and to lead the fight to prevent the spread of HIV.”

Best Buddies: The Buddy Up Campaign

To attract more high school and college volunteers for Best Buddies, an organization helping those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, a team of Juniors created a fun and unique campaign called "Buddy Up". In Summer 2010, the campaign launched statewide in 72 high schools and colleges in Indiana.
