Because of their early involvement in the Near Eastside Legacy Initiative of Super Bowl XLVI, Herron visual communication graduate students were invited to present their findings on near-eastside revitalization at the 23rd Annual Taylor Symposium at IUPUI on February 29.

The Taylor Symposium honors the memory of Dr. Joseph T. Taylor, who served as the first dean of the School of Liberal Arts. The symposium hosts “informed discussion on issues of concern in urban America.”

In the spring of 2011, the IUPUI Solution Center was given the opportunity to partner with the Super Bowl Legacy Project, resulting in IUPUI launching a cross-discipline program of targeted engagement. Aimed at increasing student and faculty involvement in the Near Eastside of Indianapolis, Visual Communication Design graduate students were the first group to begin working on the project.
