Honors Art program
Designed for high school juniors, seniors, and recent graduates who have a serious interest in art, the Honors Art Program offers an intensive two-week course of study in drawing, design, three-dimensional design, and printmaking, taught by Herron faculty members.
Honors Art program participants receive an authentic experience of studying visual art at the college level, as well as an opportunity to build their skills and portfolio, and to receive guidance in planning an education in art.
Class size is limited to 20 students, ensuring one-on-one attention from instructors. Assignments—equivalent to those given to first-year Herron students—are carefully designed to build basic studio skills. Each session has a thematic focus to enrich and inspire students’ portfolio building. Sessions meet for two weeks, Monday through Friday from 9:30am until 4:30pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
Honors Art is open to high school students entering their junior or senior year as well as recent high school graduates. Although there are no prerequisites to enroll in Honors Art, students should have a serious interest in art.
