Fit to Breed? The History and Legacy of Indiana Eugenics, 1907–2007

The exhibition Fit to Breed? The History and Legacy of Indiana Eugenics, 1907-2007 was designed by student teams from spring semester 2006 and was realized by a dedicated team of senior visual communication students through an independent study course. Fit to Breed? used archival resources from the State Archive and Library to guide visitors through a series of exhibit spaces that contextualize and question the political, moral, and social forces that lead to the eugenics movement in Indiana, the United States, and the World. Both positive and negative outcomes from this period of Indiana History are examined, including its relationship to current issues.
